YCF Newsletter...?

I've had a thought: I'm not sure where this'll take us, but my idea was such: Should we start a YCF Newsletter? It seems alot of things are beginning to happen, and if anyone has a big story they'd like to post not everyone goes to every blog everyday. What I could do is much like the YCF Forum, start a site and have everyone email me there stories. Only the really big ones, cause we still LOVE having our blogs, but still.

I'd like to hear all your thoughts on this.

My email, as you all know by now, is: universeofmymind@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from ya! :D

Not just blog roll??

Okay! So I had an idea! There have been new members and new posts and just...everything new! So I was thinking that maybe on one side of the YCF blog we add a "Blog List" that are usually in everyone's blog anyway. Just so we can at least come up to this blog and see who's updated most recently from the YCF. Just a thought.... But comment please! :)

God bless,
~Bookie

Official Forum

Ok, so I've kind of created a forum setup; however, since I am still using google sites for it, public commenting is still not available at this moment.

So what I would suggest, is that until such a time as I figure out how on earth to make public commenting possible, create an email address specifically for the purpose of logging on and editing/adding topics and/or comments to the 'forum', which is located at either www.ycf-forum.tk or http://sites.google.com/site/forumycf/.

If everybody agrees to this arrangement, at least for now, then I will need email addresses in order to enable you to edit the site. To your email addresses I will send user information for the email address forums.ycf@gmail.com. This way, there will be one address used to edit the forum page. The only downside is that only one person will be able to comment/post at one time, but that shouldn't be much of a problem given that most of us are on at different times anyway. If, in the event that it is in use when another tries to log on, wait a few minutes and try again. When someone is finished, please do not forget to sign out.

Any email addresses I receive will NOT be kept on file anywhere, and I will only use them ONCE and only to invite you to be admin on the forum pages. Whoever comes on board with this project will have full admin rights.

So, again, if we are all in agreement, please send your email addresses to universeofmymind@gmail.com .

So to recap.

Forum page: www.ycf-forum.tk OR http://sites.google.com/site/forumycf

For admin rights to post and comment: send email address to me at universeofmymind@gmail.com

You will receive information at that address for the forum email, which is forums.ycf@gmail.com

Everyone will then use that address to login.

Thanks all!!

And have a good day.

----mike----

PS.: I WILL add all of your email addresses to the admin list, simply so that in case for some reason the forums.ycf address doesn't work we can still post. In addition, I don't think it's possible for two people to work on the site at once, but if that does happen and things keep screwing up, simply type out what you have to say in a word document and copy and paste it in later on.

I'm sorry that this is so confusing, but eventually it will work itself out. With our help.

Goodday!

New Horizons

Hello, everybody!

For the last little, while, as some of you know, I've had a nagging feeling in the back of my head that I should do a series on Revelation on my blog. However, given that it would make it difficult to both do studies and still post on other topics on the same blog given the current format, I have set up a website on which I will be doing studies on as many books in the Bible as I can.

The website URL is: www.salvation-for-youth.tk . You will have to copy and paste the URL.

In addition, I have begun another site on which to display bits and pieces of the books I'm writing; so hopefully, within the next few days, there will be some content on there as well. That URL is at www.fantasygalaxy.tk .

And while I'm on the topic of New Horizons, I have a proposition for the YCF as a whole: there has been the issue of leadership sprouting up from more than a few members, with some very strong opinions on the subject. What if, instead of a single leader or a board, what if we incorporated the ENTIRE YCF community in a sort of fully-integrated 'democracy', for lack of a better word, to discuss and if need be vote on various topics. (Not large topics, as I wouldn't want this idea to drive any members away; this is a very touchy area, and it is impossible to please everyone.)

However, we've agreed from the start that God is the ultimate leader of this organisation; a fully integrated democracy would include EVERY member of the YCF, both new and old, and essentially keep things the way they are but with a slightly more organised format.

Tell me whatch'a think!

YCF forum, anybody??

SO I HAD AN IDEA. :P
And I really want people to comment on what they think...

For the YCF, I was thinking of creating a forum. I know we don't really have a leader of this group, but a forum could be pretty cool for us. We could be posting stuff on there and have all kinds of discussions. Just a thought. It'd be more organized and we could do a lot more on there. We, of course, would do both the forum and the blog. OR, we could just abandon this idea of the forum and just keep the blog! :D

Tell me what you guys think. :D

God bless,
~Bookie

New Bible Study Technique!

Okay, so I recently went to my churches Student Leaders Weekend. Usually we talk about how to lead in whatever environment we are in and stuff like that. This time was different, though. Our pastor thought it would be best if we learned a little more about devotions and studying the Bible. I mean honestly, how can someone lead efficiently if you don't know God's word or how to study it. So, we went over a technique were you dissect a verse a word at a time to get the real meaning behind a verse. I'm gonna go ahead and show you how and what we did. The important thing is to remember that even if the word is small, it can have a big meaning. Also, if you can't think of anything "deep" about the word, just start with the basics. What part of speech is it? Does it signal anything? When is it used? Trust me, once you get going, it's hard to stop!!!!

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us.

Okay, let's start with "And"..... Ready?

AND - joins two words together, something is before it and it might be important: okay, so something is before it...... so read the verse before it. That verse says how we have the right to be God's children because Jesus came to us.

THE - article adjective, introduces something specific and important: there's SarahOG and then there is THE SarahOG..... it just brings more meaning/ important to the noun!

WORD - Jesus, spoken, it IS what is important (because THE introduced it.......): Has to do with the Trinity

BECAME - something changed, transformation, from one opposite to the other: BE is actually a better translation of the Hebrew word for God, so "BE"came is GODcame.

FLESH: skin, real, protects, part of the body, makes up something bigger, recycles itself, hurts, bleeds, needs care, temporary: God became one of us.

AND - relates two things: get ready for the important thing coming up next again!

LIVED - has movement: Living life with purpose vs. Intimate Knowledge

AMONG - around, with others, community in unity!, did not watch form a distance: experienced what we go through

US - we, the people, America: ties 2009 to Jesus' day

See how we just went through and defined each word? Now, lets put it all together and see what this verse is REALLY saying!

Jesus, in all His crazy love for us, came to earth as God the Son. He came here and experienced what we do and more, so He knows how we feel better than we do! But wait there is more...... He did everything right and was knowledgeable through His experiences because He mingled with us, and just because all this happened years ago, it still applies to us today!

Now is that just really cool or what??????? I thought it was just incredible. It actually took about.... 20 of us (about) over a hour and a half o go through and do all this! Crazy right????? Just shows that no matter what you are reading, you can get something out of this. Now what I want to do is see someone do that with "Jesus wept"!!!!

Yet Again

Well, I could not figure out how to change the background color of the last layout. So... once again I have changed the layout to this blog. Let me know your honest opinions, or if you have any better ideas. :)

New Layout?

As you can see, I have put a poll up concerning the layout of this blog. A few have mentioned that the gray background is kind of dull. I agree, but I in a way like the notebook paper style. So there are two options that I know of...

One, we could find a way to change the dull gray to another color or maybe a neat design. I am not sure how to do that though. I somewhat have an idea, but have a feeling it would take me forever to get it to work right. lol!
So... I am wondering if anyone knows how to do it. If you do and want to help, please let us know.

If that doesn't work out, or if most of you think a different layout would be better anyway, we could just get a completely different layout. And, just so y'all know, I don't mind if we change it at all, and it won't hurt my feelings any. I just chose this layout randomly.
In case that is what we decide to do, can anyone recommend some good ones?

Feel free to comment and give your opinions.

Celebrate Life!

My school has this thing every year called the "Celebration of Life". By the way, I do go to a Christian school. Anyways, on this day, we talk about how fortunate we are to be here and alive today, and how we should love each other because we were all created by God. Usually, the chapel/ assembly we have doesn't really "touch" me that much. I mean, come on, I'm just a kid!!!! But, one of my friends, a senior, shared something I want to share with you. See, when M (that's what I plan on calling him for now...) was a baby, before he was born, his mother was told then Mark might be born with Down Syndrome. I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I bet you can Google it. Anywho, his mother was given the opportunity to abort him. She didn't want to do that because she saw his value. So, the doctors said that they could run one more test that would show whether or not he definitely had Down Syndrome, but with that test, M could have been spontaneously aborted, so his mother said that she wouldn't go through the procedure. She wanted to make she that M would be safe, because she put a value on his life.

If a mother can go through that for her unorn baby because she loves him, imagine how much God would do for us! He sent His son, Jesus, to die the most cruel and inhuman death ever created, for us, so we wouldn't have to die. Sometimes, I kinda get hung up on that fact. Why would Jesus do that for me? I'm a sinner, I mess up everyday. I bash people, and sometimes gossip about His perfect creation. Yet He forgives me anyways. That was apart of what we talked about, too. WE are God's. WE are made in His perfect image. When we put down others, or even ourselves, then we are not only hurting the person, we are basically slapping God in the face. So, next time, when we are going to complain about others - or ourselves - think about how God looks at..... whoever. He sees then perfectly. Think on that.

New YCF Blog/New Member - Ellie

Hello, this is Zoe. I just started this YCF blog since Paris said it was getting too difficult for her to keep up with the previous one. I hope I can, but I do get pretty busy.

The template is not final. If anyone has a better one to recommend, please do. In fact, please let me know if you have any honest suggestions or critisizms for this blog.

Also, if any other YCF members are interested in becoming contributors (more than likely with administrative rights) to this blog, just let me know. The only downside is that to become a contributor, I have to have your email address to add you. So, if you feel comfortable with that, just post your email address here and I will add you. (note: comment moderation is enabled, so your email will not be published.)

As a contributor to this blog, you could post any suggestions or ideas you have for YCF, any announcements you know of (new members, ect), or anything else related to YCF or God. Just keep the YCF rules in mind.

Another note: I do not consider myself the one who is "in charge" of this blog. I just wanted to get it started, and all of you can take it from here.

Announcement: (Added later)

My friend, Ellie, has just joined YCF! Feel free to go visit her blog and leave her some comments. I am sure she would love it. There are now 28 members.

Rules

Quoted from Sapphira...

1.) The will be no use of profane language.

2.) We must respect other people for their values and opinions.

3.) We must respect each other's feelings.

4.) Everyone is their equal in the YCF, and it does not matter who was a member first.

5.) We must follow Jesus in all we do in the YCF. This group started with Jesus, it is about Jesus, and it is going to end with Jesus.

The "Quest"

As said by Araken:

Now to the meat of this little blogging sandwich...Ok, so in my last post, I talked about branching out and reaching other blogs with Jesus' message. So to all of you who have not heard, several of us YCF folks are initiating a quest to do just that. Here are the goals of this quest:

1. Find other blogs whose writers need the Lord and share Christ with them without trying to shove the Gospel down their throats.

2. Upon finding Christian blogs, share the nature of this quest and ask if they'll join it.

3. Try to re-evaluate what you believe and where you stand.

4. Pop popcorn and tell me about it. Just kidding...obviously.
