New Horizons

Hello, everybody!

For the last little, while, as some of you know, I've had a nagging feeling in the back of my head that I should do a series on Revelation on my blog. However, given that it would make it difficult to both do studies and still post on other topics on the same blog given the current format, I have set up a website on which I will be doing studies on as many books in the Bible as I can.

The website URL is: www.salvation-for-youth.tk . You will have to copy and paste the URL.

In addition, I have begun another site on which to display bits and pieces of the books I'm writing; so hopefully, within the next few days, there will be some content on there as well. That URL is at www.fantasygalaxy.tk .

And while I'm on the topic of New Horizons, I have a proposition for the YCF as a whole: there has been the issue of leadership sprouting up from more than a few members, with some very strong opinions on the subject. What if, instead of a single leader or a board, what if we incorporated the ENTIRE YCF community in a sort of fully-integrated 'democracy', for lack of a better word, to discuss and if need be vote on various topics. (Not large topics, as I wouldn't want this idea to drive any members away; this is a very touchy area, and it is impossible to please everyone.)

However, we've agreed from the start that God is the ultimate leader of this organisation; a fully integrated democracy would include EVERY member of the YCF, both new and old, and essentially keep things the way they are but with a slightly more organised format.

Tell me whatch'a think!

We have been talking about getting some sort of council together for a while now, but no ones is acting on it. I believe that anyone who wants to run for council should speak up by posting a comment on a designated post. Then, someone (an author or creator) should go through the names to see who is qualified. Then we can vote on a council. After we have the council put together, then everyone can have their say in any decisions that we need to make. It wouldn't take more than maybe two weeks I think.

I think doing like Mike said would be a good idea if we had something like a Forum (like Bookie suggesting) to discuss things easier and easily get word around about things, vote on things, ect.

I still don't know what a forum is.....

SaraO'G: A forum is basically a page where there are links to various topics, and discussions on each respective topic. It would create a much easier way of communicating, so long as everyone used it fairly frequently.

Also, I wasn't suggesting a council; to have one select group of people in a leadership position, especially in a community such as this, would very likely spell trouble and the possibility of some members leaving. What I was suggesting that when an issue is brought up, we do something like a forum, where the issue would be brought up, and there would be a 'real time' discussion between ALL members as equal entities, acting as a single entity to come to an agreement as to what action should be taken, if any.

I think that is a pretty good idea. ALL YCFers should read this post( I think) The "point" of YCF is to spread Jesus over the internet, so I think some kind of leader is some what necessary. Maybe one to help know what kind of direction we should be going in. Maybe ideas on what to blog about. MAYBE... About the forum I think it should be private for YCFers. Just a thought...

I do think YCF needs some form of leadership, but just one leader might not be profitable.
I like the concept of a whole council. We would have no titles for them other than "leaders" or some other term, so no "president" or "treasurer".
No one would be above the others, and their job is to represent all of YCF. We do need a bit more organization. I have been asked more than once about YCF, and their response is: "So, it's just a group? You don't actually do anything? Just put a logo on your sidebar?"
A forum would be great! We would speak with each other in more of a discussion-friendly atmosphere. We could link it from the blog to the forum, and have some topics open, some for YCF members only. It might make it safer that way and not to mention more like a group than just putting a logo up...

God Bless,
Prism

I still don't think that a council acting as a separate or even sub-separate entity is required; however, given the responses on this and other similar posts, perhaps if we developed a system wherein someone states an issue, and the rest of the YCF posts their opinions. In order for this to work, there would need to be some form of council to reach a consensus on any given discussion. That council would probably need to be elected, with a short term of, say, a few weeks. That way, everyone can get their say in. In addition, if we are to set up a council, I would recommend two things: the first being that NO CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES be brought forth, and no interpersonal problems. Controversial issues (that is, issues that cannot be fully resolved within the YCF to a degree of satisfaction by every participant) would do nothing to help our cause, and would, essentially, dissolve that which we are working so hard to build. Keep in mind, we're still building!!! And, keep interpersonal issues between whoever is involved; if we cannot solve problems between each other on our own, find someone within the YCF who would be a willing mediator.
As for the second point i was about to make...I've completely forgotten, so with that, I bid you all adieu and goodnight!

Oh yes..the second point was that a forum would be fairly essential to the success of any council put in place.

Also, please keep in mind that this is NOT a political group, so that council, if created, would NOT be a primary focus. Our primary focus is, always has been, and always will be, Jesus Christ. God. Yahweh. Whatever you want to call Him, He is what this group is about!

As for my study in Revelation...It's been going slower than expected, so please forgive the delay. There is a LOT more information than I had anticipated... And I know far too little at the moment, so I hope to incorporate some more people to my study. It may very well be a multi-author work by the time it's completed.

Also, the site for www.salvation-for-youth.tk was down for the last couple of days; it's back up. On that site, in addition to my current study in Revelation, I WILL be conducting more studies, and I intend to do so until I have covered the entire Bible. Then I will go over it again, covering any missed points that I find.

In terms of Revelation, if any of you have some part of it that interests you that you would like to see published on the website, plz email it (and any notes, if you have them) to me at universeofmymind@gmail.com.

Thank you, and goodnight!

I think that forum is a cool idea, so lets take a vote or someone just set it up or something. My main point is that someone needs to take action and DO something. We keep talking about what. We've given ideas and inputs, now someone needs to make a decision: Council or forum or both? I still remain standing on the council principle. I really think we need to have a group of designated people to make final decisions and such. That is part of the problem now. No one is appointed to anything so no one is taking action. I agree with Prism completely.

I would set up a forum if i knew how; but there are two problems with that:

1) I don't know where to find webspace that I could actually set up a forum, and even if i could I don't know how;

2) It usually costs money to use webspace that isn't provided by Google. However, I will email them and find out if I can create a forum with their google sites application.

Ciao!!

Have a good day.
